The historic, classic Tampa Theatre (and office building) is surrounded by modern glass skyscrapers. Built in 1926, Tampa Theatre is a city landmark with a U.S. National Register of Historic Places designation. In the background is another historic building, the Floridan Hotel, also built in 1926 and also on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The building had been undergoing extensive renovations since 2005; it opened to the public in July 2012.
